The Business Plan Competition (BPC) is PEP’s premier event -- a multi-day "Shark Tank" in prison!

You are to assume the role of a hypothetical angel investor in our participants’ businesses (although no real deals are made). Your job is to listen to business plan presentations and provide meaningful feedback on the business concepts. We are not trying to create business plans that are “good for an inmate.” These should be high-quality and well-planned business concepts, and your direct feedback will help make their plans that much better. You will also be able to provide support and encouragement for the men and their ideas.

You will join an executive panel and judge two rounds of the most creative and passionate business pitches that you’ve ever heard.

Because we are simulating a real investment situation, we would like to give you the opportunity to “invest” in the business plans you think are most viable. You will be given $10,000 investor bucks to spend as you wish on the business ventures you would most likely fund. Upon completion of all presentations, you will be given the opportunity to allocate your $10,000 investor bucks as you choose — all with one participant or split among two or more. The quality of the idea, the strength of the management team, and the clarity and persuasiveness of the written plan and oral presentation should all influence your decision.

Involves the Final Four pitching their presentations in front of the entire class and over 70 executives!
After judging, you are invited to attend a graduation ceremony that you will never forget —- cheering our participants as they accept “Certificates in Entrepreneurship” from our partners at the Baylor University Hankamer School of Business. BPC winner announced at graduation!
